If you don't associate caviar with the state of Indiana, well, it turns out you're mostly right. Last week in Vevay, IN, state conservation officers broke up a ring that was illegally harvesting paddlefish eggs and then selling them as caviar.

A shortage of sturgeon eggs has spawned a lucrative market for paddlefish eggs, which have a similar taste and look. Paddlefish can be legally harvested in the Ohio River but not in tributaries like Tanner's Creek, which is among the locales where the ring was allegedly operating. The tributaries have heavy concentrations of spawning fish, and paddlefish are threatened.

One of the things I was surprised at was when I didn't get mad when Stacy got her belly button pierced. I think belly button piercings are kinda sexy! Belly Button Rings are easy to cover up when it isn't the right place to be showing your piercings. LOL

I want to get her this dangle belly ring called Mardi Gras Remembered. I think it is fitting to honor the time she spent during the cleanup in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She was awarded a medal from the Coast Guard for her contributions.

I sure wish I hadn't postponed Brody's haircut. My poor little shitzu looks like an Eskimo and it is 80 degrees outside. He is just laying around trying to stay cool. I notice he picks the cooler surfaces like the ceramic tile to lay on. Poor thing. I guess we are going to have to turn on the air conditioner. I can stand it but I don't want my dog to suffer!

I was reading a blog and saw where the writer's husband and son love to play paintball. The only time I was involved in paintball was when the kids were younger and involved in our church's youth group. The youth leader took a group of them to play paintball. They were given paintball guns and told a few rules and out they went. Paintballs are filled with a colored liquid of some sort. Hubby heard it was fish oil. I don't know that for sure. I am going to check out the experts on the subject, Ultimate Paintball. They sell Tippmann, Spyder, Smart Parts, Dye, Draxxus paintball gear. They have everything you need to play paintball. Now that the kids are adults, maybe they will let me play! I didn't want to try when they were little. I guess I was afraid they'd be mean to me. LOL

Did you know that when you look at a totem pole you are looking at a story? My friend was telling me that she read an article that said what each part of the carving meant. I think it would be so interesting to study that information. We have a small totem pole. I don't know if the carver was telling a story or simply making a pretty carving.

A totem is an object, usually an animal, that serves as an emblem for a family or clan. It represents a symbolic relationship between nature and human kin groups. The figures on the poles are mythical beings from the First Nation's ancestral past.

We have all been trying to save blogs that we enjoy reading. At Technorati you can have them all in one place. That makes it so much easier to see who has updated.
