Everybody Skate

All you skaters, which I used to be until my nickname became Clutzy, check out this great website. 123 Skate is the place to find everything that has anything to do with skates. From wheels to laces and helmets to backpacks they are going to have what you need. Their prices scare the competition so you are going to be one happy skater when you buy your skates from 123 Skate. 123 Skate is the website for Fritz's Skate and Surf, a popular action sports shop on the Miami strip. That means that they know their stuff. You will find everything you need if you are into surfing, skating, inline skating or anything with wheels. If you enjoy recreational skating or aggressive inline skating, they are going to have what you need to get started and keep your skates in good working condition. There's a reason they are a leader in online sales for both heelys and rollerblades. It might be their prices or it might be their expertise. They'll let you decide!

Utah Miners

I keep praying for the miners in Utah. It is such a sad situation. From CNN online "A microphone lowered into a narrow hole drilled into a mine cavity where six workers are believed to be trapped has detected no sound so far, officials said early Friday." "Testing shows air in mine chamber is "very good".

Miracles happen.

Trials of Web Stuff

My sis has a blog The Coffee House that is doing the weirdest thing. It has a little box next to the name of her posts. In IE the box looks like a picture box because it has a little red x in it. In Fire Fox it is just a little box. Her pictures in her posts show up fine so we don't understand what is going on. I've gotten a couple of suggestions from the people at the PayPerPost boards but I'm not sure that they are the solution.

This stuff takes me days to figure out. How do people learn this stuff? I get one thing figured out and then find out I don't have something in my header and have to figure that out. I need a web fairy to come live with me. Anyone know where I can find one?

Changes

Last night we met up with Greg and his girlfriend, Taryn. Her parents were helping her move into the apartment she will be living in for the next 2 years during grad school. This will be the first time she won't have a room mate and she is looking forward to it. Both she and Greg are hired by the colleges where they are attending grad school. Neither one know what they will be doing for their jobs. LOL I think they are just so happy to have graduated that anything new will be great.

California Surgeon

Last night when we were at a restaurant eating dinner, I felt sad. There was a lady who passed by our table who was extremely obese. I usually don't pay attention to weight because I don't have much room to talk when it comes to the issue of weight. In fact, if I lived closer to the plastic surgeons at Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery Center, I would be getting a tummy tuck.

We hear of all the celebrity plastic surgery but I know that many people have procedures to get rid of flab on their arms after they have lost weight. The Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery Center has strict privacy rules so it isn't common knowledge when someone has surgery.

The reason that I would choose this california plastic surgeon to do this type of surgery for me is the research of I done. Their website gives testimonials of satisfied patients. There is a complete write up of how the surgery is done. That makes me aware of what is going to be done. The surgeon, Lloyd M. Krieger, MD, is the founder of Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery Center and is a certified surgeon. He is an experienced surgeon so he knows how to make a patient comfortable and how to perform surgery in specialized cases. He has written many articles for leading medical journals and is a well respected surgeon. Don't let their location fool you.
Just because they are located on Rodeo Drive that doesn’t mean that they aren’t the most respected surgeons and take the upmost precautions with their procedures that include cleanliness and the best anesthesiologists who are also well qualified.
I would not hesitate to go to Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery Center . I have read where Dr. Krieger also studied in Chicago. I wonder if he would recommend a surgeon in my neck of the woods.

Endangered Spaces

My friend Cybercelt, aka Eileen, wrote this extremely important article about how Lake Mead is drying up. Read how a barren landscape has replaced a harbor that once attracted campers and boaters. You will find this enlightening story at Endangered Spaces. The post is called When the Lake Goes Dry.

Find Your Space in Charlotte

Ok, hubby says if we could, which we can't, ever move to North Carolina to be closer to our daughter we would have to find jobs. I thought we could just be beach bums.

Just for fun, I checked online to see what type of Charlotte NC Office Space I could find. www.officespacecarolina.com helps tenants through the entire process of procuring office space. They receive no payment from tenants but are compensated from the landlord through a brokerage fee.

Since they aren't locked into representing just one landlord, they are free to express opinions that are helpful to a business owner. For instance, they can let you know that your insurance business might not fare as well in one part of Charlotte as it could in another. They know the ins and outs of their city like where traffic gets congested making potential clients avoid the area. Things like that are good to know!

If you are planning to move your business to Charlotte, you should contact Office Space Carolina and let them advise you.

Fall Brings Back Great TV

I am so ready for some good tv. I haven't been interested in anything all summer. I guess that is a good thing since I would rather be outdoors.

I am ready for my favorites like Grey's Anatomy and Dancing With the Stars. I see where American Idol is holding auditions. Can you believe that this will be their 7th season!
Producers from the Fox ratings juggernaut gave about 15 seconds to each of the of would-be singing stars who turned out this week in Texas. Last week in San Diego, more than 12,000 people showed up when the show kicked off its seven-city casting call.

Bring 'em on! I am more than ready.

Sparky

Alexa has a new tool bar called Sparky! Simply by using the Firefox and IE toolbars each member contributes valuable information about the web, how it is used, what is important and what is not. The Alexa Toolbar contains no advertising and does not profile or target you.

As a blogger who is trying to increase my traffic, this toolbar is valuable. I hope my friends and family will download it! Hint! Hint!

Online Marketing

I would be terrified to begin an online business. One reason being that there are already so many online businesses. How would you ever make one that would stand out from the crowd? It has taken me months of research and tips from friends to learn how to market my blog just to get people to read it. I don't know how I would sell something online and make sure it was found in the search engines.

If I ever got serious about marketing a product online, I would get an expert to help me. Achieving success in online retailing is when experience in online marketing becomes a valuable tool. The Find and Convert blog is just such a place. They have practical tips and advice on how to win at the game of online marketing. They know how to study statistics on your site in order to help you increase your traffic.

The Find and Convert blog also has tips on keywords and how to use them. By studying your website, they can help you learn what keywords work the best for your particular business. They know how important adding keyword rich content to your website, and to produce “merit-based” backlinks is to getting your website into the search engines.

If you want to get your business online, let a great blog like the Find and Convert blog give you helpful information. Then do it! You will be glad you did.

PayPal To Offer Financing Options

In order to meet the needs of sellers on ebay, PayPal will offer credit financing with General Electric Co's GE Money Bank in a bid to win new users and improve business for merchants that use its service.

I'm not sure if this is a good move. I think they are trying to compete with Google Inc's, Checkout.

Why can't they just keep things simple?

Great Recipes

My family has been fortunate to have a Thai cook within the family. My sister inlaw makes the best noodle soup and egg rolls. I've discovered that a fellow postie, who is from Malaysia, has a recipe site. I was looking for the best recipe for something Malaysian and discovered her recipe for Sweet and Sour Vegetarian chicken. The recipe calls for simple things that I already use so there are no weird things I have to find. She gives directions on how to prepare the vegetables ahead of time to get that crisp crunchy vegetable in the recipe. I've been trying to figure that out! My vegetables always end up soft and mushy.

The dessert pictures on her site are going to get me into trouble! She has posted about her favorites like fondue from Haagen Dasz. My mouth is watering.

So, if you'd like some easy recipes for Malaysian cooking or just want to see her recommendations for some great desserts, check out www.malaysiabest.net.

Heat Requires Precaution

Our good friend, Jack, was overcome by the heat yesterday. He builds homes and was out in the bright sun and humid temperatures. With no relief of a breeze, his body began to protest. Luckily his son noticed that his dad was looking bad and got him to a cool place. Jack was feeling shaken as of last evening.

We should all take precautions in these high temperatures. The CDC lists the following suggestions for keeping cool in extreme heat.

• Drink lots of fluids. If you are exercising in a hot environment, drink two to four glasses (16 to 32 ounces) of cool fluids every hour. But pass on the alcohol and sugary refreshments.
• You lose important salt and minerals during heavy sweating, which should be restored. Sports beverages can replace your salt and minerals.
• Opt for lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting attire. Protect yourself from the sun with a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher 30 minutes before going out.
• Limit outdoor activity to the morning and evening hours. Stay in an air-conditioned place if possible.
• Certain people are at high risk during heat waves, such children up to 4 years of age and adults 65 or older. Children should not be left in cars unattended. (I want to add that pets should not be left in cars unattended).

San Francisco Sightseeing Was My Favorite

I think that my favorite part of our visit to California was our trip to San Francisco. San Francisco is a magical place. There is so much to see there. San Francisco Sightseeing is so much easier when you use a great travel service like Trusted Tours. They make your visit smoother as they guide you and help you make the best memories of your trip to sunny California.

While all the San Francisco sight seeing tours through Trusted Tours are great, I am sure that the San Francisco motorized cable car tour was the best way to see the sights. For two and a half hours we were whisked around on the authentic cable car. We saw Pier 39 and Fishermans Wharf where we got a taste of clam chowder. Then we were off to Union Street, Palace of Fine Arts/Exploratorium, and Fort Point. Next was a visit to the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Hubby loves all things having to do with the military and enjoyed seeing the Presidio. I was waiting for Richard Gere to come strolling out but it didn't happen. Oh, maybe that was a different movie. LOL It was hard to believe that we were still in the US while visiting Japantown and Chinatown.

If you are in the planning stages of your trip to San Francisco, you should sign up for Trusted Tours eNewsletter. With the eNewsletter you will be informed of great tour deals in San Francisco and other parts of the country.

Women Need Women Parts

I just read an article in US News & World Report and was shocked to find that they use the same artificial joints for women's knees as they do for men's knees. A woman's kneecap is thinner and women's wider hips create a different angle between the pelvis and knee. That means that the kneecap gets pulled to the side when the quadriceps contract. Another big difference is the fact that the end of the thighbone is typically narrower in men.

With all the differences, would you think that it would have dawned on someone that the reason men's knee replacements were more successful based on reports of pain and do-over rates, would be based on these differences?

Some surgeons say the difference is in the technique of the surgeon who puts in the artificial joint. I would bet dollars to donuts that those surgeons are men.

Getting the Best Property Manager

It is important for property owners to have the right person managing their properties. If you have someone who doesn't take care of things and deal with the renters, it can be a nightmare. Damage can be done to a property when things aren't fixed. Rents that are not paid become impossible to collect if not taken care of promptly. All Property Management puts landlords in contact with the right property management person. Property owners simply select a property type and then the zip code of the property. The owner will then be presented with management companies that match their selected criteria. This type of service takes the hassle out of owning rental property!

Idiots

A skateboarder is lucky to be alive. It doesn't seem as though he learned a lesson from his near death experience. What is it with people? In any other sport, medical personnel would forbid a player to go back to the game until they were physically able. I guess there aren't any rules for skateboarding.

Exciting New Game

The powerful races of Protoss, Terran, and Zerg clash once again as a new competitive real-time strategy game emerges. This game picks up where starcraft: Brood War left off but adds a cast of new heroes to the familiar faces. To find out more about this edgy sci-fi game, check out www.creepcolony.com. That's where you can get with other fans who have been devoted to Star Craft and are looking forward to this exciting new story full of intrigue and adventure!

Why Bloggers Write About Products

There is a good review about PayPerPost over at Publisher Spot. It outlines the company I work for, PayPerPost. I have learned so much about being a blogger by talking with other Posties, (people who write for PayPerPost). They are the nicest group of people who have helped me fix a broken blog more than once. We have grown as a community and rally together as we strive to help PayPerPost become the biggest and best venue for advertisers to get the word out about their service and/or product.

Posties come from all walks of life. That aspect gives the advertiser a large group of diverse writings and different views of a product.

Posties have grown into a community of close friends who help each other with technical things and with uplifting words when one of us might be having a bad day.

There are some Posties who give PayPerPost a bad name. These are the bloggers who set up their blogs strictly for the purpose of making money. They take the $5.00 ops that require 200 words and three links. The advertisers who are only willing to pay that amount will not get a write up worth their time and money. The bloggers who write those posts are usually not the bloggers you would want representing your product.

There are many good bloggers who have a large audience reading their blogs. Their blogs are not full of paid posts. They actually write their blog to keep in touch with their friends and family or have a theme blog such as one on pets, etc.

My hope is that more advertisers pick up on the fact that bloggers can give their products a big boost and get readers checking out their products. These might be readers who would have never known about their products if not for a blogger like me.

My Writing

You may have noticed that I write about things that impress me and about things that I want others to know about. I get paid to write some of these posts. I try to maintain an honest view on those products. Since an advertiser is paying for a write up, I'm sure that they wouldn't like it if I said negative things about their company and product.

That is why I only choose products for which I can give a positive review. Some things I am not knowledgeable of but if I can learn about them and incorporate their value into something in my life, I write a post about it. For instance, I have never been to Tuscany, Italy. I wrote an article about how I would love to go to Tuscany and visit the mountains and see the country. I don't know much about computer software. If I am asked to write about a piece of software and I can find out how it works and what benefit it could afford my business I write that.

It is fun to write and learn about new things. I'm amazed about how much more I know about different subjects as compared to a year ago. I have learned about different types of mortgages. I have expressed my feelings about the dangers of debt. I've even written about dating services! Who knew there were so many different types!

It is fun to grow.
