Ski In Style

The temperatures are dropping and soon it will be my husband's favorite season. He loves fall. It is awfully nice to be able to open the windows and enjoy fresh air instead of running the air conditioner. After fall comes winter! I have found that in order to enjoy instead of dreading winter, I have to get involved in winter activities.

Winter here means a short drive to the ski slopes. I don't ski much anymore but I enjoy watching the skiers. There are some pretty snappy dressers with their spyder clothing. They do look sharp in their Spyder Dare pants and jackets. The jackets have all those zippers! I love those cute bug button hats. Christy Sports has everything you need for winter sport. They have all the ski and board gear too. Shop at Christy's before winter gets here!

New Blogger Play

Blogger has introduced Blogger Play! They said they had it running in their offices for a long time. They were showing beautiful pictures on projectors and monitors. and never really thought about how they could engineer it so we bloggers could use it until someone asked when it was going to be launched.

They had their UI people tweek it with buttons that would let us fade and control speed with our pictures. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun! Check it out at http://play.blogger.com/

Where's Joan?

I was starting to get upset because I read that Joan Rivers and her daughter, Melissa, won't be on the red carpet during the Emmys this year. The always bring a different perspective to what is going on. They know everyone's history.

The article on CNN online went on to say, "Rivers, 74, and her daughter, Melissa, 39, will blog about the telecast's most memorable moments and fashion hits and misses on emmyswithjoan.com, a special section of the Web site VH1Eyecandy.com, VH1 announced Monday."

It won't be the same but at least it is something.

RaterGaters

I always get excited when someone likes the same thing that I do. For instance, when someone likes the same types of books that I like, we can talk about them. I like to find out if they were just as mad as I was with the way a book ended. I've been able to share my books too. We mail them back and forth.

There is a new social site that makes it easy to find people with the same interests as you! When you go to ratergators.com, you will find others to share your thoughts on music, games and so much more. Check out the food tab and see all the different restaurants and fast food places you can rate. Check out the higher rated places and try them for yourself. You can click on the restaurant icon and see what different people have to say about their experience eating there.

Get started at RaterGaters and check out all the different products and services. Check out how others have rated them and get to know those people. Get involved in a new social network circle! Find people who enjoy the things that you enjoy! Talk about those things and learn about new things. It's a great consensus engine that encourages new friendships!

Are They Still Playing Music?

I just found out that the old rock and roll band Led Zeppelin will be performing in a town near us. Only one of the members is an original but that is still cool!

I wonder how many of the old timers are still out there playing their music.

There is a new film out called, I'm Not There. It is about the many phases of Bob Dylan's life. I can't wait to see it. He is an amazing performer. He is also very protective of his privacy. As stated in an article on CNN online, "Dylan liked the concept and gave co-writer-director Todd Haynes the rarest of gifts: the rights to use his music in the film, both in his own versions and many covers." Haynes began reading Dylan's biographies and discovered the many changes Dylan experienced throughout his life. These changes had deep intellectual, cultural, almost physical effects on Dylan's audience," Haynes said. I think that Dylan had so much influence on society. It will be fun to see how these changes are portrayed in the movie. I hope they did a good job. I don't want Bob Dylan to have any regrets.

Peace of Mind

I remember thinking, when my niece told me she had a site on MySpace, that she was really taking a chance on risking her privacy. I have since discovered that MySpace is a fun community. You meet many people on MySpace. My daughter has had former school mates contact her through MySpace. These were people that she had lost contact with so it was fun for her to be able to chat with them again.

I do think it is important, as parents, to monitor your family's participation on MySpace. There are always going to be those yucky people who prey on our children. MyspaceShield is a wonderful software program that lets you know what is going on when other family members chat and use MySpace. This program will ease your mind and let you feel comfortable when your child uses MySpace.

You can read more about this great program in the following press release:

Press Release:

New Software Release Offers Peace of Mind for Parents, Spouses

In today’s world of wireless technology, web cams, and the ever-growing phenomenon of MySpace and other online profile sites, the issue of internet security is quickly becoming a persistent worry in the minds of many parents.

(PRWEB) September 12, 2007 -- In today’s world of wireless technology, web cams, and the ever-growing phenomenon of MySpace and other online profile sites, the issue of internet security is quickly becoming a persistent worry in the minds of many parents.

In fact, according to a 2005 report issued by Pew-Internet and American Life, 79-percent of teenagers admit they are not careful enough when it comes to revealing personal information to complete strangers over the internet, leaving them vulnerable to the advances of child predators.

Recently released software, MySpaceShield, utilizes technology to discreetly monitor all MySpace activities as well as various instant messaging programs including AOL, Yahoo, and MSN. “This program will automatically track and report all MySpace activity through your home computer,” said David Kayo, Vice President of Business Development of MySpaceShield.

Kayo said MySpaceShield is designed with safety in mind. “We’ve all seen the news stories about inappropriate internet contact between innocent children and the adults who prey on them,” said Kayo. “We wanted to provide a solution that will help prevent these tragedies,” he said.

In addition to its popularity and usefulness among parents, spouses too are taking advantage of the ability to monitor online messaging and MySpace activities with MySpaceShield. “If you suspect that your spouse is engaging in questionable behavior through MySpace or other chatting programs, MySpaceShield will give you the answers you’re looking for.”

Delivered by email, MySpaceShield installs quickly and is easy to use, even for computer beginners. “This software was designed to be up and running in just a few minutes even for those who aren’t tech-savvy,” said Kayo.

For more information about MySpaceShield, or to purchase the software for $19.95, please visit www.myspaceshield.com .

Cover Up Please

Did you ever hear of such a thing? It seems that Southwest Airlines feels it has the right to ask their passengers to cover up if they think they are dressed inappropriately on a flight.

A passenger on a recent flight said a flight attendant confronted her during the trip from Tucson, Arizona, to Burbank, California, and asked whether she had a sweater to go over her green halter-style dress.

Last week, 23-year-old Kayla Ebbert said a Southwest employee pulled her aside as she was preparing to board a plane departing San Diego for Tucson in July and told her she was dressed too provocatively to fly.

I think this is okay if they are dressing in horribly bad taste.

Sheriff Not in the Know

I just read on CNN online that Sheriff Deputy Kyle Cavness in Galveston, Texas is saying that hurricane Humberto snuck up on them. I don't know how he can say that. I was hearing it on the news on Tuesday!

"It snuck up on us, to be honest with you. It wasn't something we were expecting."

Maybe he should start watching the weather channel.

Skin Care Product

My sister in-law is from Thailand and has dark complexion. Her skin always looks beautiful. She uses special make up made especially for her skin type. ORIKI Cosmeceuticals have developed products that work the best with her skin type. AMO Asian, Mediterranean, and Olive (AMO) skin types are more pigmented.ORIKI takes that into account when they formulate products for those skin types. Skin types that are more pigmented are more apt to show scaring when injured or have breakouts of acne. It is important to find the right skin care product to use to avoid problems that might arise later.

ORIKI was founded by an American Board Certified dermatologist and biochemist Dr. Tuan Nguyen. Dr. Nguyen found that difference in skin tones was an issue that needed to be addressed. Since 1984, ORIKI has been meeting the needs of women with more pigmented type of skin. Women love using ORIKI products. They contain the purest ingredients. These ingredients are scientifically designed to rejuvenate skin cells. Women have found that the collegan in their skin retains elasticity and that keeps their skin looking young. They love their healthy, young, smooth skin. Thanks to ORIKI, they have a product designed especially for their skin type.

He's Going to Jail

Yay! This mind controlling jerk is going to be behind bars. Now, if no one steps up and takes his place, young people might be safe. The trouble is, there are more who think the way he does. I hope they keep arresting them one after another.

From CNN online:

Warren Steed Jeffs, 51, is the president and prophet, seer and revelator of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, also known as the FLDS. He stands accused of being an accomplice to rape. The trial is in its fourth day of jury selection.

Love to Eat

Why is it that some days I wake up as hungry as can be and other days I can wait til noon before I want something to eat? I woke up this morning and felt nauseaus, I was so hungry!

Lynn bought some new biscotti dipping cookies that are yummy. They have chocolate in them and when you dip they in coffee they are so delicious. I didn't need for him to discover something that I can't resist.

September 11

Today was a day that I'm sure people sat back and thought about. Terrorists attacked our country on September 11th. That is when the idea of, it could never happen here, changed.

Many lives were lost. Innocent people died. All because we don't think the same as someone else. They were raised to think the end justifies the means. We need to change their ideas.

Tuesday Evening

The weather has cooled to temperatures that are so much easier to deal with. It is in the low 70's or high 60's and feels so good. I went out and helped Lynn mow the grass. He is on the riding mower and I pushed the hand mower. Hmmm. There is something wrong with that picture.

I would rather push the mower than walk on the treadmill. That treadmill walking stuff is boring. I have to do it though.

We just got back from eating taco salads at the restaurant down the street. I prefer the ones from Taco Bell but these are ok. We wanted to get supper out of the way so we can work on other projects.

I am hoping that when he comes in from mowing, he will want to put my bookshelf together.
