A Felony, A stigma for life

This story on CNN's website got me thinking. Unmanned Plane finds child sex abuser is the news story about a 23 year old young man who is accused of rape because his girlfriend is pregnant and only 15 years old. I have mixed emotions about this. I don't know if her parents were aware she was dating this man. Did they approve until she got pregnant? I just don't feel good about calling this relationship rape. There is a young man in our area who is registered as a sex offender because he was 18 and his girlfriend was 16. Her parents didn't like him and asked him to stop seeing her. Being a bull headed teen, he continued seeing the girl. She went behind her parents back to see him. When the parents found out about it they called the police. Now he has a record he can never erase. Whether they actually had sex is the parents word against the daughter and her boyfriend. What a mess.

I agree with you about the over 18 / under 18 rape. However, the law is the law and the term "jail bait" was coined for just that situation.

When you look on the sex offender website, I think it tells the offense for which they were convicted.

Its scary when you see people living in your neighborhood on the list.

Have a good day!
